    Hi,

i have a HP dc7900 SFF here. I tried to enable the SLIC by using hpbi103, but no luck. All other Tools won't work, too.

If i try: "hpbi103 write slp on" i get an 0x87 Error. "hpbi103 read slp" gives a Disabled.

But i found something out. If i use generate instead of write, the program seem to do something. I tried to generate a SKU and SLP, but the programs asks for values, that i dont' know.

Can anyone say, what value for SLP and SKU should have?

    Thanks Obelix

I have noticed that if you update the Bios from HP website and insert your OEM CD for Win7 It automatically activates, This only works if HP is Still Selling the model and Support that model with Windows 7. This works for your DC7800 and DC7900 Series, your RP7700 Series and possible XW series although I have not tested that fact.

    Hi,
I have updated a dc7900 to the latest BIOS available in the HP Website and it still doesn't work. Have you been able to solve it? Can you tell me more information on how to do it, please?
    Thanks!

Yes I successfully done it recently to another DC7800 I have not been able to truely test DC7900 being that I have not come across one yet in my experience. Try this and do a fresh install with OEM aspect you get from this forum for Windows 7.

HP's Latest bios is Aug 2011 have you tried that one as well?

Sorry for the delay in response.

Hate to bump an old thread but am I reading that the DC7800's will self activate if you use the OEM disc? I know the 7900 is slic 2.1 as I did one last week but thought the 7800 was not slic 2.1.

sorry but there are so many post in the "this is not a request" thread.

    Hi,
I know this was a while ago but can you remember the process you went through... did you confirm it was slic2.1?
I ask as I have one that with the latest bios still reports slic2.0 & will not activate with HP win7. I have read other threads claiming these activate with a downloaded OEM Win7 disk but I suspect it may just have been a cracked version floating around. Interestingly though, the HP website lists all the previous bios versions supporting upto Vista but the latest supporting Win7... also lists windows 7 drivers since release of the last bios making me wonder if there is some dc7800s that will update to slic2.1.
    Appreciate your input, Cheers
