A Buddy has been asked to blow away a friends laptop (new with Windows 7 Home) and upgrade to Window 7 Ultimate. The new HP / Compaq has so much trial freeware and crap - it needs to be blown away and reloaded...

Question: I was thinking he could load Ultimate and use Opa tool 6 to install an OEM Key and Certificate => and he'd be done. (I have the disk for Ultimate - not Home.)

I'm I full of crap or is this the right solution?

Maybe Master Opa could chime in?:D

Load ultimate on it then use Daz's loader, it has an option (under advanced I believe) to install a cert and key only. Set the key and cert to HP/Ultimate and under the bios mod section click the install button. Save you the work of building a disk (you can always build a disk later).

oem keys are only edition specific
ie if you install win7 home premium, you need a home premium key

it doesnt matter if its a dell key or hp key or 32 bit or 64 bit ;)
