I've been trying to figure this out for week so I can use my atheros card. Has anyone figured this out?
BIOS Type? (InsydeH20, Phoenix, AMI) BIOS Download Link? evtl. BIOS Dump? Old WiFi Card ID? New WiFi Card ID? We can´t really help you without that information .
Ok i have found out its an InsydeH20 BIOS . But the new InsydeH20 BIOS cant be opened dircetly with EzH20 . We could use AndyP´s Phoenix SLIC Tool but this is not my favourite method even if this works with nearly all BIOS´s. So what i need is a BIOS dump with the Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit If you dont know how to do this; watch this /watch?v=IWCc_WDxVdo on youtube. Furthermore we need the old and the new device ID of your WiFi Card .
Download now EzH20 2.1.0.4 or EzH20 2.1.0.13. Then you have to load the .fd/.rom file and if you have luck you can accsess to all options and you´ll be able to replace the card ID´s.
EzH20 doesn't seem to work for me, but I've managed to get what I need with Pheonix tool. I just don't know which module I'm looking for. Any help would be really appreciated.
Whats so complicated in opening the BIOS.rom with EzH20? Usually there are only problems when youre trying to open the BIOS setup menu with EzH20 .
1. Open EzH20 2.1.0.13 or EzH20 2.1.0.4 View attachment 10648 2. Press File -> Load File... View attachment 10649 3. Select the dumped BIOS.rom/.fd file View attachment 10650 4. EzH20 will show you some information. Press OK View attachment 10651 5. Press Components -> Module -> Delete Existing Module View attachment 10652
6. Search for 74D936FA-D8BD-4633-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx (SmmFwBlockService) and select it View attachment 10653 7. Press PATCH 8. Press File -> Save As... View attachment 10654 9. Save the new file and name it 4 example BIOS_no_whitelist View attachment 10655 If you got this to work i will tell you how to flash this new BIOS. But remember! On some notebooks this may not work. But deleting this module was @ the moment not dangerous, all devices survived and booted up again (but on some the whitelist wasnt removed ). However this worked on my TOSHIBA and on Lenovo devices, Sony devices....
8. Now rename the file you did paste to 01592F0E.BIN (the original bios update filename) 9. Close ALL programms 10. Run the Insydeflash.exe ATTENTION! Some people get a failed to update EC error @ the end. Ignore it. The flash procedure wont be affected. And wait until the notebook does shut down.
