for sure if the vendor doesnt update their drivers and bios for their machines u will run into trouble once u try to upgrade to a newer version of 10
Who said only HP users and not anyone else? Where? When? Obviously. DOH But @coleoptere2007 is pointing us to a guide designed for HP users so they can TRY to upgrade with less issues following such steps!
Look, Dear Commentator, if You read the first post, then there it is clearly written: "Perhaps this will avoid many questions with the problematic Windows 10 on HP devices." followed by a link to the HP Web site.
More people CAN have problems, this thread is for people specifically having problems on HP systems, and tips to have less problems or avoid them totally.
my hp compaq 6910p from over a decade ago running 1903 just fine with 2gb memory and 80gb hdd and drivers and bios haven't been updated in many years just going with the ones from the hp support site for this lappy my hp x360 1030 g3 elitebook on other hand working great on 1909 insider update and i use the hp support assistant, intel system support utility, windows update, sumo and dumo from kc software to keep drivers/software updated as well as checking hp support site for drivers manually and the product homepage for bulletins and advisories; obviously i use this forum first and foremost for my windows/server/office and other forums to keep up to date
By using the given link I have repaired many hp laptops and desktops. I thought it was usefull for people having such issues on HP devices. If not then, I don't know what the forums are designed for. Many people are asking for such informations, everyday, and do not forget that we have not the same level of experience. If it isn't useful here then let the admins delete this thread, it is not a problem for me.
@coleoptere2007 come on, of course your posts are useful including this one. I really appreciate it. Don't let others put you down. Especially those who include the smiley Spoiler
I just upgraded my wife's hp pavilion p6607c bought in 2010 from windows 7 home pro to windows 10 home pro for free and its a dog slow ddr2 for memory and it's a 32 bit so the free upgrades are still working, only because she asked me to (she likes to see me suffer LOL) there were no problems
you can upgrade 32 bit to 64 bit no problem but will still be slow when have less than 8gb memory and hdd - a cheap ssd will always solve the problem temporarily till upgrade to new hardware
well I'm running Win10 LTSC 2019 v1809 64bit on an old HP pavilion media center m8417c desktop computer and I have not found any serious problems running LTSB/LTSC on there. it has an AMD Phenom II X4 B97 cpu and 6Gb of RAM (3x2Gb DDR2 ram sticks). next thing for me to do is to replace the 500gb sata 2 hdd with an ssd
