HP mediasmart server software Q

    Does anyone know if the HP mediasmart software has been installed on a non HP system yet? I know people have found ways to get the 2.5 software onto the 47X series.

    I've tried a few of the HP mediasmart add-in's
    Most of them work OK, but the hardware dependent ones error out.
    (my guess is they will work on the Acer, as its basically the same Hardware)

    I've not been able to get hold of the complete HP Mediasmart Software packages, so i can't say about the other parts.

    Hi Sebus,

    I think phasezero was talking more about the 2.5 update.
    Thats the one that adds real features to MSS.

    I'd be really impressed if manage to find any links to that update. ;)

    Hey doktornotor,

    Yep, you win the jackport.
    Which is a brand new copy of WHS, just head on over to TPB to collect it. :p


    Thanks for the update, i'll have a good go at getting it going a my DIY WHS over the weekend. :)

    Eventually came across HPMSSRecovery.iso
    Need to chek it this will install (at all) on the non-HP hardware

    Any luck get the ISO to work ?

    I've been messing with the MSS updates, but it seems we still have one missing.

    i started downloading that recovery iso couple days ago and it's taking forever cause theres only 1 seed at 10KB/S. at 45% right now.

    It got me most of the way through the update. :)

    Have any of you guys managed to install that recovery image ?
    Or at least managed to open it. ???

    Some very good info. I'm stuck on trying to get a bootable usb stick to work. I followed instructions to set a usb flash drive up and am able to select the flash drive for boot on my mobo but the system just ends up hanging on "verifying dmi pool data". Trying my other flash drives atm.

    Well it took a long time but i finally got everything setup. I kept running into different issues the whole way but i'm glad its all finished. Looks like all the software works fine. My only issue right now is the hardware status notifications about my cpu too hot or voltage problems. This was expected since i'm not using the same mobo as the mediasmart servers. Just need to figure out how to get rid of them. Ignore works for now.
