    Hi. I own a HP Pavilion 9644. If I install Vista Ultimate, do I have to mod the bios t activate it or is it a HP slic already?

    If your computer came with a Vista preinstaled then you can install Ultimate without the need for a bios mod.
    To check if your bios has SLIC in it, install Everest.
    Open Everest and go to Motherboard-->ACPI.
    If there is a table named SLIC then you have a SLIC, but take note that it may be incomlete or it may have a deferent OEM table and OEM table ID

    I extracted my XRM-MS file with oemdump and sucsessfully installed and activated vista ultimate x64 on my pavilion 9644. Its working great.
