Hi, the goal is mostly the same as everyone elses. Working activated 2008 server.
The machine is a HP prolient ML115 with AMI Bios but afaik non-editable BIOS.
its a cheap "server" AMD quad opt for around £200
A few days of trying the dreamspark only nets me idp.msuniversity.edu.cn time out errors.

Since I cant edit my BIOS will the WOW6 be of any use? some documentation reports it to be Vista only ?

    Thanks for any assistance

Did you check with Everest that the BIOS does/does not have the SLIC?

    Hi dawson,

I don't see any reason why WOW6 shouldn't work with Server 2008 on a physical box, a few of us were using WOW5 on Hyper-V with sucess. :)

Vista and Server 2008 use the same type of activation, so if WOW6 works with Vista it should work with Server 2008.

If I'm wrong I'm sure Yen will let me know.

A link to your bios could be useful...

You do normally "edit" the original BIOS (not the dump)

Sadly it looks like this one is a rompaq variety, so I do not think it could be easily "edited" (if at all)

None of the AMI tools can open CPQO1802.0BA due to the wrong size

any PCI slot for a modified bootroom lan card? My Intel server board cannot edit the bios so I plug in a modified bootroom intel cheap lan card, it activated perfect. (second hand for around US$3~4.00)

    The ml115 g5 has 4 PCI slots
    Slot 1: PCI 32-bit/33MHz PCI at 3.3V
    Slot 2: PCI-Express x1 connector with x1 link
    Slot 3: PCI-Express x8 connector with x8 link
    Slot 4: PCI-Express x16 connector with x16 link

Ive not tried this lan card solution, as Dreamspark came to my aid, but I might check it out that in the new year.
