Just curious what are your experiences and which would you chose. I guess the populare ones are plex and xbmc. Have an old machine im turning into an htpc. Also, id like to know if you guys know any youtube downloaders that can download an entire playlist and monitor said playlist to download new videos when added. I already know about the 1080p limitation with youtube, but thats fine.

JDownloader 2 Beta removed the limitation.

There is nothing better then xbmc.

But old machine is not the right choice. It eats too much electricity and will be most likely slow.

Just get Raspberry Pi with Openelec

Thanks, i agree with xmbc as with plex I would need a server running too as well. With the old pc I agree, also i dont want a huge desktop sitting in my home theatre area. A friend recently upraded to a qnap nas and gave me his intel nuc so that will do fine. With jdownloader, does it have the ability to download entire playlist and not rewrite videos if they already exist? the site seems to be in a different language.
