I have used only windows boot menu to delete a boot option, i believe it is safe. You probably just reinstalled win 7 or did an upgrade, correct? and you are able to boot fine obviously, if that is the case I will just delete that second boot option that IS NOT highlighted and give it a shot. It may be IT that is creating the confusion.

    Always back up!!!!!!

this can happen if first install of win 7 fails, or partition changes......at least that has been my experience with this; again i just deleted the boot option that wasnt highighted and all was well.

:shisha::worthy:thanks for being a gr8 help around, people like you keep the site going
in some models of Asus, it is either F5 or F8, so yes that could be the dilemma in this case

Amigo, repair isnt going to harm/change anything in your system. It will just replace corrupted files if there is any, Bios default will just bring it back to default settings. So basically there is nothng to worry about. Those are just basic troubleshooting steps.

Were you ever able to start in safe mode?
