I ran win 95 to win 7, and all in between, and was great with it, (except millennium), but I converted to linux when win 10 came out, so technically, concerning win 10, I m a noob. Fast forward to now. I find myself having to use win 10. I chose to run it in a virtualbox, and remain in Linux. It was installed for 2 days, and windows did the update thing. After that I decided to only run it offline. I guess my question is; will there be a point where win 10 requires to be online to update?

Updating it manually will leave you to keep up with the released updates and installing them.

The hotfix thread and Updates Overview posts will help you keeping track.

So if win10 is never online it will still complain about wanting updates?

If you are on an official "Final" build without a timebomb, it won't. If you are using an insider build, it certainly will.
