    Internet Explorer keeps informing me that a program has corrupted my default search engine(Google). How can I get it back? Please help.

    This happened to me when I first installed IE8 on a Vista system, IIRC.

    You could set the default, and it would seem to work.
    But every time you re-launch IE, it would complain of corruption.

    The thing that fixed it for me was:

    Re-enable UAC and re-boot ( it had been disabled );
    Launch IE and re-set default;
    Disable UAC again if required.

    Here is one way: > CONTROL PANEL/SYSTEM SECURITY/ACTION CENTER/CHANGE USER ACCOUNT CONTROL SETTINGS < then move the setting down to NEVER NOTIFY. Now install GOOGLE again. Reboot and now you need to reset UAC back to default setting.

    Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...
