I have an HP dv7-1150us which a bad bios flash.

I've been attempting to the the INSYDE BIOS recovery method, and i've gotten close, but no pay dirt. I've got the system to boot and look for the crisis files, but it never finds them. This leads me to believe that I'm not using the right files or file names.

this is the only bios file I can find.

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3795415

I cannot find an older one to test with.

inside the compressed file are these:

    30F3F2A.FD
    30F4F2A0.FD
    30F4F2A1.FD

platform.ini doesnt specify any file name either.

I've tried each file, renamed them 30F3.bin and 30F4.bin, it never starts the flashing process, just beeps and keeps looking.

Tools I have are: usb floppy, 2gb usb flash drive, 16gb usb flash drive

    EDIT:
So as to be in compliance with the rules, the $50 offer is withdrawn, but in exchange I will be your best friend if you help me out.

sorry if I didn't make this clean in the first post.

the system will not turn on, it will not post, nothing will boot, no hard drive, no cd, no usb bootable disk.

there is no bios to issue instructions to the hardware to turn stuff on.

what i am trying to do is a blind INSYDE BIOS flash recovery. currently the system is in such a state this is the only option.

that would be great, if the system booted. i cannot see the dos screen or enter into setup. it is completely fried and i have to use a crisis recovery mode. no amount of usb bootable tutorials will fix this laptop. I'm asking for someone with intimate knowledge of the system or maybe access to some old bios files for me to play with.

here's what i'm trying to do sorta http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/13095-Undocumented-INSYDE-BIOS-recovery-method.

Use 2 GB flash drive, FAT32 formatted

    Try for every bios:
its original name, the first four letters e.g. 30F4 and .BIN, .ROM and .FD extentions. Capital letters additionally.

Try first the first bios, copy all possible names (for the first bios) onto the USB drive, kick in recovery by pressing specific keys.
    http://forums.mydigitallife.net/thr...YDE-BIOS-recovery-method.?p=198108#post198108

If it isn't working try the same for the second bios......

In the meantime I'll decompose the bios and search for other names....

Btw: If it should work I would be pleased you would donate the 50$ to UNICEF or an similar organisation...

    Hi folks,
I bricked my dv7-2273cl yesterday, prolly shouldn't have, I was playing around and knew the system wasn't stable. Anyways started flashing and froze, bricked it. So I put the files for mine on a USB stick, renaming each of them, every possible combination of the name from 4 letters to the full file name, both with BIN and FD extensions and capital letters, removed battery and power adapter, pressed <Win key> + <B> inserted power cable, pressed power button. When the power lights came on I released the keys. It appeared to read the usb stick , at some point the laptop shut itself back down (seemed like about 2 min). I started it up, all good! Since the 30F4 bios seems to have 2 versions perhaps you can try doing this twice, once using the first, then using the second version?
