    Hi guys
I am looking to extract the video bios out of the Gigabyte S1081 tablet,

I like to learn how to do it so I can do it for myself and others if needed in the future.

The bios can be found on Gigabyte website (they won't let me post links:()

    1) How do I identify which tool for the bios?
the flashing tool is called "Win32DiskImager.exe"
    the bios is called "S1081B.F06"

    2) How do I extract the video bios from the bio file?

    Thanks

Are you still trying to do this? I can give it a shot.

Out of curiosity, may I ask what you wish to use this for?

Thanks for replying. Yes I am still trying to do this.

The reason is a bit complicated. S1081 has a Cedar Trail processor that have terrible Windows 8 driver support for its GPU. Many Cedar Trail users are stuck because of the poor support from Intel and we are left to fend for ourselves. I want to take a look at S1081 video bios and compare to a Clover Trail processor GPU which supposed has exactly the same core and has excellent Windows 8 graphic driver. It is a long shot but I like to see what I can do with it.

that's the link. You can extract the boot.img using 7zip.
Then extract the F06 file from boot.img with 7zip.
    Thanks for posting Tito

Could you get me a copy of a similar BIOS for a Clover Trail processor GPU?

i am looking for one as well. Those devices just came out.
The Samsung ATIV Smart PC 500T is one such device and has a firmware update program on its support page.
The problem is, it is just a software and it downloads over the internet. and it checks bios before doing so.
If there is only a way to fool it.

I can dump the contents BIOS using the Phoenix Tool, and one of the files has a string that mentions "VGA BIOS" in it, but that's all I can find. I have no idea what I'm looking for here. I don't know the size, or any strings or HEX code that may be used to signal the start of the VBIOS.

I'll look into getting a copy of the Samsung ATIV Smart PC 500T BIOS.

While I don't know the version of vbios for this rom, i have a similar one that is at 1059, and I know someone with a version 1050. So search on 105. Thanks

The name of the file is A062CF1F-8473-4AA3-8793-600BC4FFE9A8_1_157.ROM. Somewhere near the middle of that file is the following string:
    Code:
Intel(R)XX Graphics Chipset Accelerated VGA BIOS
I have no idea if this means that this is the VBIOS, but it may be a starting point.

wow, thanks drew, let me look at that file.
Could VGA bios be packed with other parts of the bios or is it always has its own file?

Honestly, I have no idea. It would be helpful to have a different BIOS with a VBIOS in a known location to compare with.
