You may need to adjust the settings of IE11. I didn't use IE at all, just Chrome with no problems. And you need to enable ActiveX, Flash and Java in IE. Check the settings!
I'm no friend of IE any version but here, all downloads descend on my disc on the fly using 8.1. You certainly have some silly settings in your browser which prohibit the downloads. Check as Pisthai said
I have no issue with 8.1 x64 and IE with any downloads, all I have done is No to Smart Screen, and yes to compatibility mode... which on some site I need other sites not needed.
It is permission issue. You have either selected "Protected Mode" for Local Network zone, or enabled Enhanced protected mode in advanced settings, or you are trying to download to C:\ root directory... For a test run IE11 as admin and try to download to that stupid folder in C:\Users\[XXX]\Downloads.
yes, there is some problem in windows 8 ie browsers. it has lot of browser compatibility problem. i think next version(windows 8) will be overcome this problem.
ok guys, it is fine when you do your d/l with a 3rd party browser but this does not solve the problem on the IE side. I think MS has to do some more homework regarding IE 11 to get it fixed until RTM
You're absolutely right! Just for the fun I tested on Windows 8 Pro and on Windows 8.1 Pro Preview, later running from External HDD as Win2Go and have no problems with downloads from MS and 3.party using IE10 and IE11! All settings as default as of installation because I not use IE at all! Said that, I've to admit, resulting from my 2 test's just now, it's not a fault of MS! And without to have the physical machine at hand, it very difficult if not impossible to tell what's going on or even not!
After a month experience - the best solution is to downgrade to Internet explorer 9. Both - 10 and 11 cannot download at all...
If you can download files when running IE11 as administrator the simplest way to fix the problem is to create a new local user ID.
