I was using acronis true image home 2012 to take an image of my pc monthly. It use to take about 35 mins to do but today it took 2.5 hrs with no increase in HD space. I would like to try another software, Can you guys recommend another software to try that wont take as long. thx
Dont know why. Just want something quick and does what I want it to do. Also, want a live version that doesnt need to have OS access.
You can do that with acronis boot cd..I only bring it up because you had success with acronis and now something is not working correctly.. if it was not acronis the possibility exists that you could have a repeat of the same problem.
Yeah Paragon does have a feature to either create a bootable CD or USB to backup or restore an image, I've done both & used it on a regular basis, no problems, good for free I think you do have to install it first to do it though but once that's done you needn't use it again on the OS unless your CD or USB get damaged etc.
It is free but you do have to register for the free key. Only takes a moment. And you have to install it and then you can make the live cd from within the program. It will be faster from within the os. It never takes me more than 20 minutes. Usually less though.
I have tested several softwares but my choice fell on Cobian Backup. It's free, still under development, has lots of translations, you can schedule automatic backups... The website is simple but there is good support on the forums. www .cobiansoft.com/index.htm
Can someone plz take the time and show me how to make a paragon live cd step by step. I would greatly appreciate it. thx
two ways: [1] go to program directory and find the "iso" folder and burn the bootcd.iso file to a disk OR [2] go to "TOOLS" on the menu bar at the top choose "RECOVERY MEDIA BUILDER" choose "next" choose "cd/dvd" or "flash memory" choose "typical" choose "next" choose "cd/dvd emulator" choose "next" after it finishes go to your program install directory, then open the folder, then find the "iso" folder and there it is the iso. there should be two in there. bootcd.iso and emulator.iso if you just built one.
Yes you can back up to an external drive just make sure its plugged up in to pc before opening the program. To image whole hard drive you must choose the hard drive itself at the top of the partition dialogue that comes up after clicking the back up button. Its not that hard to figure out but if you still cant do it ill make a short vid or take some screenshots and upload in the morn.
When I get into the GUI my looks like the following: ------------------------size-------used--------volume label 0-----c-----pri---------100MB----24.4MB------system 1-----d-----pri--ntfs----449GB----50.8GB------OS 2-----e-----pri--ntfs---16.6GB----14.5GB------HP Recovery Do I have to image (bkp) c,d,e them 1 at a time or can I do all 3 at one time. If one time is possible, how plz? thx
