    Hi all.
Well i bought a new Compaq laptop a wee while back now and i have been trying to figure out how to get all the nice OEM stuff off it for future ref.
I have seen on here folks putting up OEM details ripped from recovery discs. I did not know how this was done so i have been looking on the web for an answer.

    Here's what i found.

Copy from the recover discs all the .wim files from inside "preload" into a folder on my HDD. - This i did.
    Install WAIK - I did
Infact i have tried Waik for Vista an W7 ( running W7 )....
    run this command :- imagex /export /ref *.wim base.wim 1 exported.wim "exported"
It starts to work ok then stops and asks for wim#1... ( or summet quite similar, never noted it down )...

Now am i doing this right just to get the original files or am i barking up the wrong tree.

And this error in imagex . what doe that mean.

Has anybody had dealing with this and can point me in the right direction.

    Cheers.
