Importance of Rare Earth Elements

Not really impressive, but interesting. Basically your normal human being can do reasonably well without rare earth and any of the unnecessary garbage ist used for. So, if I have to choose, I take the music group... The only ones that might have a problem are the professional mass murderes and I would consider that to be an advantage for humanity.

And, of course, if the Chinese do anything like that, it almost justifies a declaration of war, for the US it would simply be politics as usual, right? So compared to that, I find this a lot more fascinating:

I put them on my oil filter on the car and the oil pan on my bike near the drain plug.

 

but.... bearing material is made of brass alloy?

True, but iron filings and chrome flakes will rip and tear that brass alloy to shreds so it is better to keep those contained should they happen to occur.

 

I reckon if your getting iron filings, then the bearings don't matter anyway
