WU applied this update and I have lost the contents of the downloads folder ...I did the clean installation of Win10LTSC today ( 17763.1 ), update offline to 17763.168 without problems... and now this happened! :-(
Are you sure it was because of the CU? And did you offline integrate the updates or online, i ask because you first installed win 10 and next did the updates (online).
it's been running pretty smooth and very stable for me as well, been since .134 or so at least, if not earlier. The first versions of 1809 were pretty bad though, it BSODed like 3 times and some app was always crashing in the background, not anymore. Wouldn't pinpoint it on Microsoft however. Might as well have been just drivers. Been using DCH drivers now for at least 3 big parts of the PC (GPU, network adapter, sound) and they've all had quite a few updates for 1809, so I would say it's reasonable to suspect a possible conflict with the earlier drivers thought for 1803.
17763.194 they snuck it in on me but all seems ok for now so far nothing missing or blinking now if they only don't try to install new functions for a while we might be ok LOL

Download once then update each machine manually, CU tends to become bigger with time, no need to download via WU when having more than one PC.
Using SoftwareDistribution's folder sometimes causes problems. I have not had any, ever since I use DISM to install CUs.
If you manage a bunch of systems its way easier to download what you need to quickly build a complete image. I do a lot of charity work and there is no way I would ever go back to installing and then updating. Base + updates + drivers + unattended = press go and do something else.
You don't need a forum full of experts analysing every detail of the patches and their implementation and even more in order to use Windows Update. I don't see any issue in using Windows Update if this is your choice. Some (most) of us prefer to have more control.
