Hi all, I am contemplating hacking my BIOS not for Win 7, but for activating my eSATA connection. Can anybody tell me what options I have in the BIOS in relation to SATA that Dell BIOS version 1.0.18 does not provide? What do I need to get there?
Urie, are you here? Urie, I know you had a good experience in hacking your BIOS with Inspiron 530. Any chance you can tell me any extra stuff that gets added to the BIOS? Did you have a G33M02 MOBO that was upgraded to a modified BIOs?? Anybody else that's interested, I would appreciate any info you can add regarding BIOs extras in a G33M02 MOBO BIOS that was modified.....
Thanks for the link! Should come in handy... I was also looking for confirmation that this can help me increase my memory config to max 8GB (2GB per slot), up from Dell's max 4GB limitation for Inspiron 530. (When I "activate" Win7 64 bit) I also would like to get the BIOS updated to make my eSATA adapter active from the G33M02 mobo. Is there an option there?
BTW, I have not modded my BIOS yet, as I want to make sure I don't "brick" it and have to get another BIOS chip..... I'm trying to absorb everything said on this forum and have some confirmation from successful Inspiron 530/FoxConn G33M02 modders on the correct procedures to help eliminate "bricks"... (Thanks in advance to all for your input)
I know I have the Inspiron 530, but I saw a link stating that the BIOS update (1.0.12) fixed the memory mapping to increase it past 4 GB. The answer doesn't seem consistent and currently do not have the required 2 GB sticks to try it out. What about a BIOS update mod on the FoxConn G33M02?? Would this increase my chances to have increased memory allotment? Also, I would not have any problems modding my BIOS according to what I have read on your posts??
Equal to and greater than 4GB configurations i,e, equal to 4GB doesn't mean it makes your motherboard support 8GB it depends on the chipset. run everest it will tell you.
@Urie Well, I ran Everest like you suggested (why didn't I think of that :\ ) and I did have the capability of 8 GB max Chipset -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ North Bridge: Intel Bearlake G33 ] North Bridge Properties: North Bridge Intel Bearlake G33 Supported FSB Speeds FSB800, FSB1066, FSB1333 Supported Memory Types DDR2-667 SDRAM, DDR2-800 SDRAM, DDR3-800 SDRAM, DDR3-1066 SDRAM, DDR3-1333 SDRAM Maximum Memory Amount 8 GB Revision / Stepping 02 / A2 Package Type 1226 Pin FC-BGA Package Size 3.4 cm x 3.4 cm Core Voltage 1.25 V In-Order Queue Depth 12 @Urie, Now the last question I have is: What is your take on your success in modding your Inspiron 530? Is it similar to mine? What are your specs? (was it the Everest summary?) Can you explain how you were able to mod your machine successfully? (links or previous post?)

Also the BIOS version # is 1.0.18 - BIOS Version (713D1P53) (still do not know if this means I might use the wrong BIN file, as I have not seen yours) I found a BIN file on post#6 of the Thread: All Slics 2.1 (Modded Bios List) - Note: For requests use 'Bios Mod Requests' section : DELL-INSPIRON-530-713D1P53-DELL_SLIC21_DELL_SLP.rar Would this be the file I will need?? Or the link you gave me is sufficient?
your motherboard maybe slightly different but the fact is the bioses are the same, as i said if you load your original dell bios in to AndyP's awardtool you will see it is DELL-FX09-AWRD. you will find the Dell[DELL-FX09-AWRD]2.1.BIN in the dell folder from the archive link i sent you.
@Urie, I tried several times to run the award tool, and the system says that the awardflash.exe is incompatible with the 64 bit versions of Windows. I have not yet to find a 64 bit version of awardflash here....guess I'm not looking hard enough?
Finally figured that I needed a "bootable" usb drive to boot in pure DOS. Already flashed to SLIC 2.1 . I just need to update my system and add certs and stuff as needed.
