long time lurker, first time posting! Purchased from MS Windows 8.0 pro x86 preview release, have used kms activation a few times since to re-activate program, now trying to use pro 8.1 aio x86 and the install tells me the product can not be verified and the install is cancelled. What can I do to install 8.1 pro without re-formatting if there is any solutions? TIA pranksters
no it does not ask for a key, I just click on set up and a screen comes up with preparing windows then the error msg pops up and sits there until you hit close.
Does that mean you start install from within a running Windows? If yes, what Windows you're running and to what version you try to upgrade to?
Upgrade from an ISO is a bit tricky as it needs a specified ei.cfg file in the sources folder of that ISO. Yours would look: Code: [EditionID] Professional [Channel] Retail [VL] 0 Save as ei.cfg (NOTE: it needs the option to show extensions to be enabled in your system to do so). Copy the ISO content to a folder that is not on the system drive and add the file to the \sources\ subfolder. Start the Setup inside that folder .... The EditionID entry is the crucial part for that Upgrade-Way.
what happens if I burn to disc and reformat and stat up with the dvd rom, will it do a full install of pro 8.1?
Fresh install will always work, only upgrade from that ISO requires the ei.cfg with matching EditionID entry.
