I actually want to run both Win 7 and Win 10 till I decide if I like 10 enough to keep. I understand I can't install 10 from an ISO, but I have now tried to install it as a dual boot with my upgraded from 7 version of 10. It still won't register it as legit. Any suggestions? (I was hoping to reverse my upgraded 10 back to 7 afterwards).

Do you happen to have an OEM system with a Win8 core key in the bios?

The only advice I could give is to make sure the system is properly activated before attempting upgrade and make sure the internet is connected and active during the upgrade process.

do the upgrade normally and you can roll back to windows 7 at anytime
if the upgrade didn't activate then one of 3 things happened
    1. you didn't maintain a internet connection during the upgrade
    2. whatever activation method you used on 7 didn't pass a genuine check be it a kms or vlk key or even a a legit key
    3. you didn't use the correct edition for the upgrade
when it doubt install Daz's windows loader and try the upgrade again
and on a clean install you MUST skip entering a product key both times ... it will prompt you twice the second time the skip option is cleverly hidden as a clickable "do this later" text in the lower left hand corner

Thanks for the comments. I have an OEM W7 installed. I downloaded and installed W10, which activated. I wanted to run a clean install using W10 ISO. I have been able to install the ISO, together with my downloaded W10, so I can select either to run, but the ISO version will not activate, although I am connected to the internet. Everything I have read says this is what you need to do. Any suggestions?

(And also, if I use the ISO version, I assume I have to re-install my Office 10 - will MS let me do that?)
