Thanks for the link catalinoo9. Some of us just like to see what we can do with old slow machines. I have a dual core Pentium laptop and a desktop with 4 gigs for my main machines, but I have an old homebuilt pentium 4 1.5 Ghz on a Intel D845HV MB with 768 gigs Windows 7 Ultimate activated with an Intel Pro 100+ NIC modded with an acer SLIC 2.1 instead of a loader. Machine is pretty speedy as long as I don't try to run more than a couple of programs at a time. Installed 7 home premuim first and then did a anytime upgrade to ultimate with OEM SLP key from forum. Would like to mod the BIOS on the D845HV but haven't found a way to do it yet.
i used to be an avid 2GB user and would poo-poo any remarks about "not enough memory" .. until one day.. i was playing GTA San Andreas and the game ran poorly.. so i went out and got 2 more GiGs... installed it .. and what a difference ! the RAM used to hover at 50 - 60 % constantly.. but with the extra 2GiGs.. it idles @ 20 - 30% and GTA ran smoothly ! the PC's boot time improved dramatically ! Overall responsiveness/performance was dramatically improved .. so i do recommend atleast 4GB of RAM for Vista/7 ..
A computer with 128MB or even 256MB RAM would most probably mean an early 2000s system. My 1999-2002 desktop PC had 128MB.
