    you can't do that.
Maybe install a virtual machine with Windows XP or 7.

Obviously, you can't uninstall IE11 or install IE8 in windows 10

Just use VMware and the Unity feature to have any explorer version usable seamlessly, like it was native.

    There is also another possibility.
In IE11 you can open the developer tool by pressing F12 and set the compatibility mode and the UserAgent to IE8 (or even lower if you want)

I was going to say the same thing, well nearly :). I would add that you need to click on the 'Emulation' tab in the developer window.

Maybe you could post why or what needs IE 8, and someone could help with a different solution.

Maybe a portable version of IE8 would help.

Yep that is the way to go.

Google it, easy enough just a group policy setting. Oh probably won't work if you are not using PRO Windows version.

piece of software we use runs through IE 8 only. Unfortunately VMing, developer mode, and enterprise mode all fail in this regard. I think we just need to pony the money up and buy the software upgrade

You could make a portable version of the software along with IE 8, so the app would use the sandboxed IE.

However, this solution can be even more expensive than the software upgrade. I just had to mention it - for the records.
