Could someone give me a quick rundown on how to install a modded BIOS and then Vista. Specifically, I would like to know if there is a certain utility that must be used to flash with a modded bios (as the CRC would probably be diff and a normal utility such as winflash would most likley not all the flash) I have an Asus P5B Deluxe and i'm pretty sure extra steps are required to sucessfully flash with a modded BIOS. As far as Vista is concernd, will any OEM key allow me it to activate and is any system file modify required for the activation to work? Thanks
Yes, I already read that thread, and found my BIOS. I looked throughout the thread but coulnt find any actual directions or an FAQ. I also downloaded the modded BIOS and that came with no directions.
Navigate to the drivers section for your mobo at its manufacturers website, they usually have a link to the appropriate bios flashing utility that they recommend.
Asus uses Winflash. Here is the discription of my Modded BIOS: ASUS P5B DELUXE 1101(reflash w/original) What does reflash with original mean? after i flash the modded BIOS i simply flash it back to the original?
Thanks for the reply X. Is there any special way or time that i should do this? Should I flash the modded BIOS, install Vista, then flash back to the unmodded one, or is there a different way of doing this? Also,is there any special programs for flashing back, or will it let me boot into windows so i can use Winflash? One more question : Is there any need to modify Vista files or are all the OEM profiles (or w/e you call them) already on the RTM disk?
1st - Flash modded bios with AFUDOS (old see link on thread page 70). 2nd - If you get Checksum error, reboot and flash original EZ-Flash, or if you are able to boot to windows you can use Winflash. 3rd - Install VISTA, and follow procedures to install certificate and key. X
