I have a HP Pavilion dv7t-1000 laptop and I want to install XP on it. It has a SATA drive of course and there is no option in the BIOS to change from SATA to IDE. It may have this option disabled and hidden but I'm not sure. I have tried slipstreaming the drivers into a XP CD but despite this I still get the BSOD. I even tried the actual XP CD and using a USB floppy drive and F6. I got close to an install but ultimatey got the BSOD. So I have to ask and maybe someone can tell me, Is my particular laptop just not going to accept XP period? Please advise.
Download the sata driverpack from driverpacks.net, dont forget the driverpack base to slipstream drivers. And download the HP iso from my thread, just make sure its the right CRC first, then use OEMSLP key to activate it during install.
Is it called sata driver pack or is it under some other name? Also what is CRC and driver pack base? Thanks!
I didn't see a SATA driver pack over at driverpacks.net. Are you just assuming they have one or do you know for sure?
But as 991 has said you are not making a multi oem slp cd so the hp sata drivers only will do.[/QUOTE] Thanks guys for the links and advice.
Well I tried the files on from both links but I keep getting the BSOD. I have even tried using a USB floppy to load the driver when prompted but no success. So I'm thinking that something else is stopping it. Any ideas. I'm really just doing this to see if I can do it. I have purchased a HP pavilion ZD8000 off ebay to run my XP programs. I had one before but sold it and now I'm wishing I had kept it.
That's a good question. I didn't think to write the error code. I'll go back and try again and write it down. Is there a list of BSOD messages somewhere?
@ Invisible-Bob, you said you tried HP_ICH8M_Drivers_D7X.7z and DriverPack Mass Storage 11.07 for Windows 2000/XP/2003 (x86) did you also use DriverPacks BASE or nlite program to add drivers to the xp cd.
No I use a USB A: drive and I was able to select the the HP_ICH8M....driver from the A: drive during XP setup but I still got the BSOD. I should mention here though that I am using a partitioned SATA hard drive with Win 7 on it. I have it partitioned for XP install. Of course I never get to the point of being given the option of choosing a partition.
Here's the error code that I keep getting on the BSOD Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
Well my hard drive is a new SATA type and I'm thinking that perhaps the hard disk controller for the newer drives are not compatable at all with any xp driver. Unless someone has one. I have tried 3 or 4 different XP drivers and none of them worked. Or maybe I should try a clean hard drive with no operating system. I'm trying to install xp on a drive that has Win 7 on a seperate partition.
