    hey
bare with me cuz im going directly to the point..
my laptop is the acer aspire 5741G (core i5 430m, HM55 chipset, ddr3 ram, ATI HD5740)
other laptop is the acer aspire 5745g (core i5 430m, HM55 chipset, ddr3 ram, ATI HD5740)
all new core i3, i5 and core i7 have own gpu's inside them. notebookcheck also says in the features column that my core i5 supports the following: Turbo Boost, Hyper Threading, Enhanced Speedstep, integrierte GMA HD 500-733MHz, SSE4.1, SSE4.2

oke my laptop has the exact same specifications as this one hardware wise.. (so far i can see) now my question goes:
how come that laptop gets integrated manual graphics switching capabilities while mine doesnt it only uses the dedicated ATI graphics while all core i5 cpu's have integrated gpu's in them which that laptop can manually activate
my bios nor my win7 ultimate x64 shows anything about this option or anything related it just shows that i have an ATI graphics card.
however this other laptop does say that it allows it (i havent seen this laptop but a website states that it does), now my question is, can any of you modify that bios to work on my laptop or is this a hardware deficiency?

both bios files can be found here:

acer aspire 4745g (other laptop) with the feature enabled: ill add the link in in the next post

acer aspire 5741g (my laptop) with the feature disabled: ill add the link in in the next post

if anyone understood what i ment and is possible to check it out would be amazing
    thanks,
    diby

ps. ive checked and the other laptop also has an insyde bios.. dont know if its a 3.5 as mine is though

This is a very special matter. I guess nobody here's able to do that. You need deep knowledge about.
Insyde bioses are new I don't know about:
Is is a locked feature, or was it never programed to use to switch, or is it hardware related (layout of mainboard)?
Another way that came into my mind is to crossflash the bios.

I had a look at both bioses. They are different in size, so to crossflash isn't an option.

IMO this is a question for the acer support. Just say that you want to use the integrated GMA HD 500-733MHz, it could be that there is another mainboard that doesn't allow to switch, so it could be hardware related. Ask about if it is...

I'm sorry this is too special to know about.:(
If you are lucky they will enable it at a further biosupdate.
