So, I've probably just confused myself from jumping forum to forum to blog to...whatever. I downloaded the latest BIOS from HP which was "SP60939.exe" I also downloaded InsydeEZH2O, as well as Winrar.

I unzipped SP60939 and got the following files:

    0188B.bin
    FlsHook.exe
    FlsHookDll.dll
    DWupdLcl.exe
    InsydeFlash.exe
    iscflash.dll
    iscflash.sys
    iscflashx64.sys
    platform.ini
    xerces-c_2_7.dll

Now, I can't open any of those with H2O (they all give the error "Program can't find fv information in FD file"). And I also can't extract any of them in winrar ("No archives found in selected files and folders").

    What step am I missing?

    Info:
    Current BIOS: Insyde F.25, 2/21/2013
Downloaded, but can't do anything with BIOS: Insyde F.25 3/8/13
BIOS Link: Won't let me post it. Cause I'm a newbie.
    Processor: AMD E-300 APU
    Laptop: HP 2000-2b43dx

    Mission:
Really, I just want to change the splash screen.

Thanks for any and all help!

P.S. First post here after a few days of reading about BIOS modding. Sorry if I posted to the wrong section!

click start.. type folder options.. goto View tab.. now uncheck "hide file extensions for known file types"

u selected an app to open the .fd files.. and now it doesnt show .fd

I did that and now the files are showing as...(below)...but there still is not an .fd file.

    0188B.bin
    FlsHook.exe
    FlsHookDll.dll
    DWupdLcl.exe
    InsydeFlash.exe
    iscflash.dll
    iscflash.sys
    iscflashx64.sys
    platform.ini
    xerces-c_2_7.dll

0188B.bin is the bios. Its is RSA signed and there is no method (yet) to decrypt newer HP bioses.

i suspect if u compare structure to older bios..we can trim the extra junk to make it load and decrypt.

however if u find the 0188B file from older version ( like F.0A or under) it might load.
