Has anyone figured out how to use the Intel My Wifi Dashboard with Windows 8? I have downloaded the latest driver and application package (15.1) for the My Wifi dashboard but I cannot generate a hotspot. Has anyone had success using My Wifi Dashboard with Windows 8
I guess most poeple are easily impressed by how powerful intel My-WiFi is. Not only is it free, its the best AP creator known to mankind thanks to its features. Connectify is nothing compared to this. It allows allow for any Authentication protocol to be used without resorting to ad-hoc.
I mentioned in the 1st post what failed to work "I cannot generate a hotspot". Thats what Intel My Wifi Does; and I need it to act as a hotspot for all my other wifi enabled devices it acts as a virtual router with special Intel Centrino Wireless cards.....
yes i have gotton it working before you can not use the latest myfi software you need to go back down to i think it was 14 or 13 and install with compatibility i gave up and went with using a warez Connectify xxw.connectify.me/ i will look for the myfi package that worked with windows 8 and edit this post or repost the package and link too it
this is what your looking for hxxp://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=21045&lang=eng replace the xx in the begging of the link run this in compatibility mode windows 7 or you will get a msi error once started and you get to typical or custom pick custom and enable the second options intel proset/wireless wifi software - intel my wifi technology - my wifi utility if you use any other inter driver sets i believe you will end up with the dashboard and hotspot is a upgrade if you need other drivers check here hxxp://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+Centrino%C2%AE+Wi-Fi+Products&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Centrino%C2%AE+Advanced-N+6230&ProdId=3315&LineId=1784&FamilyId=1783 pick what your looking for this are the intel proset drivers the driver i posted is the 64bit one as thats the only one i have used and know works
Thanks for your help, that was one of the 1st things I have tried but have had no success. When you click enable, it turns gray and then turns back to green and says enable.
works with centrino and wifi links these are the cards intel has been releasing for the last few years i have two the wifi link 5100 and a centrino 6230 and myfi works on both laptops if you have a intel wireless card it will most certainly be one of these cards
See, the only issue is is that those drivers are for Windows 7 and the old dashboard software does not function right with Windows 8 for the most odd reason. I have the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 so I dont know if their is an issue with my card if you could get yours to work with Windows 8 or something else. Im stumped....
do you own a iphone ? "your holding it wrong..." as i said in my first post i decided to go with connectify myself or you can go with second post as was mentioned and just do it by hand you can write a small .bat file that is like 5 lines idk what else to tell you i only provided the info asked for has any one gotton it to work i replied with the how too.. how you use it is up to you if you must have intel used dashboard and pay for the upgrade
At this point, I'm just fed up with Windows 8 and Intel's garbage software that states it works with Windows 8. The only issue with the hotspot trick in post 2 is that you have to re-run the cmd every time the computer goes to sleep or get restarted. Screw it; Back to Windows 7 I go.
