Which one of them shall I install as I am planning to format my notebook.

Is Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology like an updated version of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager or would the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology not be compatible with my notebook?

I have a SATA HDD (specs in sig)

Same program, new version, new name. However I like the old style "Matrix" layout a bit more than the new "Rapid".

You don't neeed any of these they are for managing raid which you don't have you just need the sata drivers which windows 7 will probably install by itself.

I have the same situation and I'm looking for an answer and finally thanks for all the response of this thread. It helps me to decide on what to install. I want also to update the drivers and keep the Intel Matrix software.

But what users have stated here is that unless you have a RAID array you don't need the Intel Matrix Storage Console ;)

Don't we all have a raid0 on our disks? Anyhow, it's "neat" to get some kind of feedback that it's rebuilding the array after a power outage on raid1/5 or when one of the disks gets too many reallocation sector events". System Event Log shows it - but I don't think you get any other indication. Intel Storage Console gives you a notification about those events.

No, we do not all have RAID 0 in our machines (sadly)
