    Heya,

    I have a "Lenovo S20-30 Touch" here.

On old Windows 10 builds the right usb port and SD Card worked well.

Other forums and google results confirm, that the "Intel SD Hostcontroller (Legacy)" stops working and hands out Error Code 10 (Could not start), when going past a certain Windows 10 build (1709 ?).

From acer to asus and lenovo, all Laptops with this device are affected.

The annoying part is, it does not only affect the SD Card slot, but also 1 USB port next to the SD Card slot.
There are people arguing it could be a UEFI problem (if UEFI is disabled, which it is). But that is not confirmed.

    ACPI\VEN_8086&DEV_0F14

    Driver Date 21.06.2006
    Version : 10.0.19041.488

Maybe someone out here have a "more recent" or different version version of this driver, no matter if by acer or lenovo ?

Im not able to find any different driver over the past days and gave up.

How did you upgrade Windows 10?
Did you perform a clean installation, or did you upgrade the old version keeping the old version settings and drivers, installed apps and so on?
If You used the second method, then Your drivers and maybe all Windows is damaged. If only the driver or device controller is damaged, helps reinstalling.
As much as I know, this driver should work. It's also tru, that many people have meet similar problems but after clean install everything works.

Sorry, yes, this was a clean installation and had a Win 10 Build 17763 before. Same driver, that worked under 17763.

Thanks for the replies. I read many forums and google a lot of things, before I finally post here at mdl.

I read and tried some of those links in the past, but I will try again, thank you.

I also tried the original Lenovo Tools, that are supposed to automatically find te latest drivers and bios files.
There arent any. Looking manually for this device, there is not much to download anyway.

There is no newer driver for this SD Card Reader it seems. All are 2006.
And yes, every laptop that is past Windows 10 Build 17763, can NOT use it anymore.

Im usually not a fan of such "driver tools" but I might give it a try. Yet Im now sure that this is the end of my search. :p

I would advise you to keep as far as at all possible from all Lenovo Tool, especially Lenovo Vantage.
When the warranty period has expired, remove them as much as possible of them and you will see that you no longer have very many problems what You before had, stays only these problems, what have been stored in BIOS whitelist.
I recommend checking that you still have the correct BIOS settings, as this driver/controller must work on this computer.
It is true that people have had similar problems with this driver/controller, but the reason has always been in something else.

    PS.
The above recommended driver update programs do not oblige you to install these drivers, but they will always find missing and/or newer versions for you very quickly, and may download them without installing them. They also make a copy of the existing drivers before installation and, if necessary (if You want), a restore point.
So you are not in any way endangered. In addition, I will never recommend you anything that I have not used myself.
So, it's your decision what you use or what you don't use, but don't ask for help if you don't want to.
All people have also something else to do than help those, who asks for help, but who do not want to be helped.

Those lenovo tools have worked here and there...but not all the time.
Sometimes, for example, it is better to use "modded" community drivers, but not "driver tools".

I will try all provided solutions throughout this week and post here again. Appreciated !
