    Hi guys,

    Im running Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1 7601 Service Pack 1 (x64) on my GA-A75M-UD2H motherboard with a bios version F6c.

    I downloaded a modded bios (SSV3) and installed the Gigabyte certificate successfully. After that I installed the a key (HP) from the OEM page here and rebooted. It says that "the win 7 ultimate product key you typed is invalid for activation".

    I tried to uninstalled and install a FUJITSU key and got the same error.

    What gives? Any help pls

    It won't work because of this: OA 2.0 is for vista, while OA 2.1 is for windows 7.

    @rjk3685
    Nope, you are wrong, eg:

    Windows 7 OA 2.1

    Code:
    OEM Activation 2.0 Data-->
    BIOS valid for OA 2.0: yes
    Windows marker version: 0x20001
    Windows Vista OA 2.0
    Code:
    OEM Activation 2.0 Data-->
    BIOS valid for OA 2.0: yes
    Windows marker version: 0x20000

    @C47AM2
    Like Tito suggested, reinstall the 'correct' Certificate, no need to remove SP1 (unrelated to the issue)

    I still don't get it why are people complicating themselves when they have DaZ Loader at hand. I click and you're done.
    But no, people are searching for "modded BIOS" -> brick their PC/laptop -> cry on forums to help resurrect the mobo/laptop -> fix laptop/PC -> activate finally using DaZ Loader.
    So they make 4 unnecessary steps to activate Win7 instead of ONE.

    P.S. And we wonder why the world is so f**ked up...:eek:

    Use Windows Loader, it will install the correct cert & key for you.

    Do you mean the Daz loader? I dont want any third party loader to do the activation and run everytime or so (atleast thats what I understand from the automatic concept of activation). I tried the Bios mod on my pc, installed the cert, key and it worked like a charm.

    Btw, my friend just reinstalled his Win7 from the link the repository. Now for the certificate, can it be any or has to be a Gigabyte one? The repository thread doesnt clearly specify and I think my modded bios came with clear instructions (this one for my friend doesnt).

    Edit:
    Well, I just asked him to download Daz's loader and click install and that was it :icecream:

    he didnt even have to do online verification :eek:

    @SOCRATE_MMXII: I just like to play safe and more importantly know what Im doing to my/other people's PCs :p

    Last question, my friend had a bios mod installed from here. Now if he gets an official BIOS mod update, does it mean the activation status will be reset?

    It worked just fine with Daz. I edited my post a bit. Can you clarify me on my last question at the top ^^

    It depends on the bios mod. Some newer ASUS mods are 'permanent' i.e SLIC will remain after newer bios upgrade. But for most of them, you need to mod them again.

    :)
