the one offered via windows update in windows 10 is the only one that uses wddm 2.0

so if you want directx12 your wanna use windows update version of it

Yes it is actually older..however note the Win 10 TP drivers are also a different branch of the AMD driver builds.

A new AMD driver was released with the Win 10 TP build 10041 wddm 2.0 win 10 tp.jpg

Here are the driver number and dates from the previous Win 10 TP AMD driver
    DriverVer=01/28/2015
    Driver Packaging Version 14.201.1008.1002-150128a-174946E-ATI
    2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1407
    Direct3D Version 9.14.10.01044
    OpenGL Version 6.14.10.12968
    Mantle Version 9.1.10.0020
AMD Catalyst Control Center Version 2015.0128.1614.29170

THis is the one that would force install even when you had new drivers.

15.3.1 beta drivers are better then the windows update ones and have more features such as VSR and include dx12 support also so if you want the best and most stable use 15.3.1 release by amd yesterday

alexisfire that was true in the previous release...however we do not know about the ones I posted the screen shot for build 10041, as they have been barely tested. The ones released for build 10041 are WDDM 2.0 compliant.

So please do not state what is best and most stable etc without providing proof. No offense intended.

Actually as far as I know, the wddm 2.0 may not have catalyst control center which is necessary for features like VSR etc. About better performance and stability , only users who have used either can comment about it, maybe with few benchmarks or ingame fps results. Since amd drivers are a pain to properly install and uninstall , I wanted to install the better one the among two, as I have just finished doing a clean install of windows 10 build 10041.

i test every build with all of my games with 15.3.1 driver vs the update driver vs the 14.12 omega driver and the update driver is the slowest losing up to 5fps in most games where the 15.3.1 driver gains a extra 5fps over 14.12 because of the many new fixes and crossfire profiles and vsr for those who dont know it lets you use higher res in game and on the desktop of course your fps will drop and the 15.3.1 is WDDM 2.0 just take a look in the device manager lol something can be found out through hardwork not bitching try it

if you have issue installing and removing drivers a pc isnt for you i can remove and install a driver so simply it's like breathing and the windows update version has a cat control center fyi but you have to install it yourself

Yeah MS disabled the driver from installing on 9926 and 10041. Only driver it installs is realtek which is nice since i don't have to go to realtek's site anymore haha.

It's almost impossible that Windows 10 driver is newer than the one just released yesterday... probably a version number mismatch...

Yes TPU mate it is... different braches, just as nVidia does. I use the latest engineering driver and the put over Catalyst Control Panel 2 to get a panel obviously, that was left in C:/AMD after previous Windows 10 update driver.

Yes, it does...;) (This is getting like he-said, she-said...) What happens though is that the CCC crashes because the WU driver keeps trying to install the wrong one--you think it isn't there because it isn't supposed to be, but it is and you don't see it because it has already crashed. I finally got the correct CCC to install with the WDDM 2.0 driver:

    Latest Driver 15.200.1023.3

    Latest CCC 2015.0514.1935.33383

I finally got the correct CCC version to install by entering the c:\AMD\WU-CCC2\CCC2_install\ folder and running "setup.exe." I rebooted *twice* after running that setup.exe installer and since then the above driver and CCC package stay up and run fine under 10122. (Finally!)

Bear in mind that the DX12 driver doesn't actually support any DX12 features as of yet, and according to DXdiag.exe, supports D3d 11.1 and below only. So the driver says it's "DX12" but does not as of yet actually support any DX12-specific features.

I would prefer using the 15.4 WDDM 1.3 betas now released but I can't because WU keeps replacing them with the driver set above. AMD is set to release the 15.5 betas in a few days, and I'd like to use those, too. But probably won't be able to use them for long. Ah, one of drudgery's of using a beta OS, I suppose...
