I always disable File History via Group Policy Editor but is there a reason this isn't a good idea?

I create backups using Macrium Reflect from time to time and have a good security solution.

    Thoughts on this?

PS: I also disable Work folders, I have no idea what that is but doesn't sound like something I may need

When I first got my PC, I enabled File History briefly for testing and found it was inefficient and lacking in features compared to third party software. So it stayed disabled since then.

Indeed, MS should either bring it up to standard or remove it. But so far they only seem to remove useful features and add unneeded ones.

If you got backup, the File History function will be less useful. You can discard it directly.
