I need advise on bios mod to SLIC 2.1 for my laptop. The laptop I have is gateway ML3109. The bios came with is Phoenix bios 83.09, SLIC 2.0, I believe. I really want to run windows 7 on this laptop. The problem is that gateway dose not provide the original bios link that I can download from. My question is that is there a chance for my laptop mod the bios to SLIC 2.1? If the answer is "yes" then what should I do? I have googled web and got nothing. Thank you very much.
There are currently no BIOS updates for this product, so you need to dump the BIOS on your laptop onto a file before we can mod it. You have to use the phflash tool to dump the BIOS, either Windows or DOS Mode.
Thank you, weinter, for the quick response. Should I use phlash16 or winphlash to dump the bios? It appears that phlash16 only runs in dos mode, correct? I am quite new to bios mod. I would appreciate if you can give me a little more details on how to proceed.

Yes, you can mod the dumped BIOS, but you will NOT be able to flash it back! For Phoenix one needs the original BIOS! So if there is none, then you better chose different methods of activation sebus
Thanks, 555LE. I have downloaded the 83.10 bios and flashed with it. It works great. Now I have made a rw file, and following are all the info need to SLIC 2.1 bios mod. I can not post a link, so fix the link by replacing "!" with "/" and remove the space in w w w. Hello, 555LE, I downloaded the mod bios from your link and did bios (8310_SLIC.rom) flash with it. But when later I checked the bios with SLIC Tool Kit, it is still SLIC 2.0. Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks.
thanks 555LE, the new rw file is at sendspace/file/nfctsd. please add www and com before and after sendspace.
@911medic Thanks for the mod. I think it worked this time. The SLIC ToolKit reports it is SLIC 2.1. I am installing Acer OEM Win 7 now and wiil report later the final outcome. The link of the new rw file is sendspace/file/p6gr8q. Again, add www and com before and after sendspace.

I have successfully installed win7. I could not find acer oem version so I used retail + acer certificate. Thanks all of you again for helping me achieving this goal. I really appreciate that.
