For Windows 10 Pro Retail, is it possible to make a backup of the activation, and then, after a clean-install, is it possible to do a restore of the activation ? If yes, then what is the procedure ?

  3. HI Explorer11. One way to backup your windows 10 activation and even your os for a matter of speaking is doing a full partition backup. There is a lot of 3rd party software that can do this for you. Me myself i use Paragon Drive Backup and Recovery which i find works very well for me and you don't have to be very Savy with computers to use it or you can try Acronis True Image which works very well to. Good Luck.

If the system has a "HWID/Digital Entitlement" backing up any activation is not needed, every clean install on that system will get genuinly activated, just skip every question for a key during setup and OOBE.

I use Acronis and yes it will backup activation if MS has you activated, if they deactivate you, the backups will NOT reactivate you, I know from personal experience, they deactivated me for adding more RAM, backup copies would not reactivate me.

You can always redo the HWID upgrade options to get a HWID again for the changed system.

Yes, I had trouble once myself...;) I finally got my backup reactivated, though, IIRC. Things are different, now. Beginning with 1511 you can use your Win7 or 8 key to activate, should you for some reason lose activation.
