Is It Possible to Customize the "WinX Start Menu"?

    Tried to add a new key while running regedit as System. Nada. Next step would be to maybe try psexec or offline while booted from win8 disk/usb.

    Did you try to take a ownership through changing the permission on that Registry-key?

    Actually a PCBeta guy had already done that and removed all the keys, and it seems it made no difference, maybe it's not controled by that part of the registry, maybe there is something in the dll's, no idea atm. :eek:

    w4l: he is just "one of the guys" trying to break the code, for all I know Paul T. is also working on it.

    Hmm noticed that if you copy an existing link and rename, and update the desktop.ini, then reboot its permanet in the menu.
    But once you change the link, its removed from the menu.:confused:

    Im sorry but i knew that menu was their for a while but it seem alot of people is working to get back i find the metro start good but bad when you install a program and it just adds all files to the menu other then that its fine

    ^^ yeah. i checked it yesterday. even created a new topic here but it has not been approved yet. :p

    the trick works. i checked with ready made file and was able to add shortcuts.
