I wasn't given the option to do so in nLite. However, I was given the option when I used the same drivers in the XP2ESD folder. I will try those.
I tried using them in the folder (XP2ESD_v1.6.2\plugins\drivers\x64\Ported). Still got the 0x07B error.
I'd say it would work. As long as it's the same architecture, from my experience at least, legacy drivers work on later operating systems, so I think it could be possible to do it without .inf modding, as I've installed Vista x86 drivers on 10 x86, but I'm not 100% sure.
No I am not. I am using WinSetupfromUSB on a USB to install XP x64. I don’t have a CD drive on the laptop, and I don’t have an external DVD drive. Would there be any other way of installing XP x64? I can’t do anything internal (like install XP w/ WinPE), as I can only boot legacy drives from an external USB, but once I get past the first stage, I will add the Server 2008 boot files.
My goal is to install Windows XP x64 on this laptop natively, and not to mimic a style on a newer operating system.
I installed XP x64 recently, I tried many times with .iso from USB but always BSOD, I tried with the same .iso burned to CD from external DVD drive and it worked, no BSOD. I believe it is possible to install XP x64 from USB also, but I don't know which program works, and what options to use. The only way it worked for me was to install XP x64 from CD.
There are many options, but most of them require a good share of knowledge and manual intervention. But wintoflash lite works like a charm and is pretty easy to use.
I've done it before, but it only works if you set the compatibility mode to IDE or off AHCI, and it was on a Haswell PC. But using a CD would probably be easier, or just using something like XP2ESD or deploying XP would be another way.
I am able to install Vista and 7 on the laptop normally with no problem. It's a UEFI class 2 laptop with some restrictions basically.
