Is it possible to install windows10 on a usb key I'd like to be able to test things. So is it possible to install windows 7/8/10 on a usb key I've try but in the installation choice, my usb key is never there. I try to install windows with a usb key or a dvd same thing. Anybody know how to do it? Lievre
Theoretically, it is possible. Windows 7 does not want to work particularly well, but Windows 8 will work, but it is much slower if usually installed version. Windows 10 - have not tried, but did not see any reason, why it should not work.
I am wondering if the OP means Windows-To-Go. Meaning can you install Windows to a USB not from a USB.

Just use imagex /apply or dism /applymage to deploy windows on th usebkey then install/configure the bootloader and you're done W8/8.1/and 10 works on usb w/o any needed mod to the OS.
