I might render my Vista useless.
I am asking for opinions, whether my line of thought is right or there is something I am missing.

    Look,

Use a virtual machine vista and a regedit tool (which lets you backup, replace, find keywords in registery) to proof your idea.

It will be possible -- but until someone finds out.

If you ask me: Yeah, thats possible. It seems logical. I'd like to look for it asap.

    I installed Vista SP1 without KB940510.
After SP1 installation I have now 15 days left for activation.
    :-(
Paradox crack is useless, even if I uninstall it and install it again.
I tried to install my modded version of Paradox (changing royal.sys to loyal.sys) but the installer complained it could not find royal.sys.
I will restore the Vista image I made with Acronis Backup and start from scratch again.

to offer you my opinion...it won't work...because even if you do edit the royal.sys...sure the KB won't see it and in a sense its hidden..but then it will see that your Vista isn't activated and will then give your reminders. The only way to avoid it is to not install the KB...which for now you have that option and also to hide it...but that does not mean MS won't later force you to install it.

to make things simple...just use a modded bios with a clean install of Vista..that way you don't have anything from a crack or patch installation.

Yeah, that's the way I have it working in my two desktops with successfully modded bios in this forums.
But this is my brand new laptop and I am a little picky about flashing a modded bios to it.
Funny thing is that none of the known softmods (STRO, sofmod.iso, etc.) works. That is why I resorted to the Paradox crack.
I have now restored the Acronis image I took before I installed SP1 and I am back to square one, with a working Vista.
I am now downloading the 32-bit "NOPE" version which comes with the embedded softmod and activation and will install it from scratch.
Download will end late tomorrow (I'm on 512K!) and will give it a shot.
