I installed Windows 8.1 Pro N, and now I can't activate them... If I'd install Windows 8.1 Pro WMC, would I be able to activate them? If no, is Windows 8.1 Pro activation by phone still working? Please, make me understand this.
If you use an N edition you probably have a legit key. Just wait until official release, and you'll be able to activate. If not, contact MS support. If you don't have a legit key, just forget the "N" edition. Why would you use crapware if no one forces you to do so?
I activated Windows 8.1 VL with Windows 8.1 RTM Pro WMC Offline Activation RETAIL key (by phone). It worked, but don't have WMC. Windows VL Pro can't have WMC.
Thanks for all your answers, but could you, please, answer me to two more questions: does anyone of you tried installing non-VL Windows 8.1 Pro and then upgrading it to WMC and does Windows 8.1 Pro WMC edition comes with WMC installed already, if yes, would it be possible to activate it by phone?
1) Why is N Crapware? I thought it's actually better since it doesn't have the Microsoft crap like WMP and IE 2) How come all the activating gurus didn't bother to find a way to activate it? 3) How can one legally activate it if he has a Pro key?
There are both Core N and Pro N. If you install one of them, you don't have Windows Media Player and any related to it stuff, like Windows Media Center. This is the only difference. I downloaded N version, because I never use WMP. Sadly, I'll have to reinstall :C.
thanks for the explanation bro, not much difference I see if it's just for 1 app (WMP) but why don't you simply install the normal version and uninstall WMP via the Programs & Features? Any problems with that? I remember on Windows 8 (not 8.1), when I uninstalled WMP, upon restart, I would randomly get a "Cum surrogate has caused an error bla bla bla" restoring WMP fixed the problem but Im not sure about 8.1
It looks like to me now that I wanted to have a sophisticated version of Windows. My bad :I. I'm still wondering if someone has activated a WMC version of Win8.1. Don't want to risk this time.
YES, you can activate windows 8.1 pro WMC using retail keys via phone I've installed windows 8.1 pro on my friends pc, upgraded to win8.1pro WMC via the standard key, and when I tried to insert the offered upgrade key it wasn't accepted because it was already used on another pc... then, I graped a pro WMC retail key , inserted it and activated his copy via the phone. you have to fellow the correct steps, ex: you have to be offline when you insert the key ... etc
One, well, you can't activate it. two, you misunderstand the activation solutions for 8 and 8.1. three, activate the normal pro version if you have the normal pro key.
