Windows picture viewer in Windows 7 keeps crashing for me. The "com surrogate (dll host)" process after i preview some pictures keeps freezing and not responding. I cannot close that program and it stays stuck until i reboot. All this after I installed Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 11.0.1.400. It's been like this for days now. Can Kaspersky be the issue?
The only problem I've had was with the database update "freezing" immediately after upgrading from the beta. Had to run the repair and wait for a seriously long time for update to succeed the first time - no other problems yet. It does monitor all processes so it is possible it can cause slowdowns or random crashes but I haven't had anything like you describe. Edit - I just had it happen to me but I was able to close it when offered the option in the dialog - "search for a solution and close the program". Haven't had that happen before.
Absolutely KIS v11.0.1.400 final, as I'm using, has no crashing with my Win7 or even with MBAM and SUPERAntiSpyware Pro both running!
I reinstalled KIS [not upgraded] deleted all activation settings and so, and so far no problem. So far so good. EDIT: It is still the same. I guess this latest version of KIS is not so good. I guess it is a huuuge bug for this issue, as it is discussed on the kaspersky forum. Previous version worked better.
This is a common problem, and yes, many others with this new release. Go back to KIS 2010 and you will be happy. Why Kapersky released this mess to the public is questionable.
I haven't had that problem but it doesnt mean it wont happen. Is there any fix (just in case it does happen to me)?
Im really sick of kaspersky, if you gonna install a program kaspersky have to search the file forever, and it warns clean files a virus. One thing thats good its that it decekt a lot of "real" virus to, but i dont ever use it again. For now i use "eset" its quick and simple.. Edit: Kaspersky 2011 is warning "Daz loader" as a virus to.
Kaspersky picks up most of the patches, keygens etc especially the ones that relate to pirating their products - other malware suites often don't even look for these type of files. Given that software patches, keygens etc from "warez" sites have been known to contain malware or mess with your system that is not necessarily a bad thing even if you want to patch something. Scan with a few different ones if you want to be sure. You can't trust everything you find on websites. As for running inferior security (or patched security) software to protect your system simplybecause some install files are thoroughly checked before being allowed to put stuff on your system - well that just doesn't make any sense at all. I may go back to 2010 at my next reinstall though unless this issue is fixed.
I went back and installed the previous version 11.0.0.232. This version worked well for me. With COM surrogate and Windows Picture viewer and all.. On the Kaspersky forum, one of the moderators posted "Kaspersky is working on a fix". I'm not sure whether they will release that fix as a regular update or as an update to the whole KIS packet with a brand new version number.
I wonder how you compare Kaspersky with Eset !!... and this is the link to result of scaning Daz Win-Loader v1.8.8 by updated KIS v11.0.1.400 final ; img98.com/show.php/197130_Snap4.jpg.html
This thread is not a thread for someone who's looking a way to insert the key in the newest version. I'm interested to know, whether KIS fixed the issue with COM surrogate and Windows Picture viewer. Anyone?
YES - There have been 2 upgrades and I haven't experienced the problem since the first upgrade some time ago. I have no problems with it at all and have turned off UAC and notice far less time delays - not that they were that much of a problem. I always found Kaspersky far more suspicious of suspect code than UAC anyway - UAC simply asks you for permission to run anything but doesn't highlight why like Kaspersky does.
They released a "b" patch? When? I don't got it through the update of kis EDIT: i'm sorry. i just checked and i do have the "b" patch
KIS2011+Windows7 = Windows Photo Viewer Crash << yes i am facing this problem in my vaio laptop is there any remedy ?
The problem I found is that it freezes when we open settings from its interface, mainly the firewall configurations.
