    Hello everyone,

I'm wondering if my laptop is blu-ray and UHD compatible. I purchased an external blu-ray drive, but it does not play discs with powerdvd. I was considering getting an internal UHD drive as I believe my external drive is defective, before I buy anything I was wondering if this system is Blu-Ray/UHD ready.

If your display is only 1080p then why care about UHD/4K anyway.
    Are you sure you have a blu-ray drive? Maybe it's a DVD-RW.
Cyberlink have a tool called BD Adviser. it can analyze your system & generate a report...

If your powerdvd came bundled (OEM) with your notebook then it would probably need to be updated...

    .........................................good point. **abandons UHD**

It's a blu-ray drive. The drive recognizes the discs, but doesn't play them.

It is the OEM Version. I'll check with cyberlink for updates and possibly getting a retail version.

It did. I fixed the issue. I installed windvd and it played the discs so there must be an issue with powerdvd. I will use windvd for now.
