I'm not noticing any slowdowns with the recent meltdown/spectre fixes and some of my PCs are using AMD processors instead of Intel
What microarchitecture? The newest Intel chip I have is an Ivy Bridge that takes a hit with the fixes. The oldest I have is a 1.1 gHz Sandy Bridge which I can't afford any slowdown on. I don't see the point in slowing down my pc to protect myself when there are no known in-the-wild attacks based on Meltdown/Spectre (yet). I always overclock anything overclockable and I strive for maximum performance. I understand your point of view though. If I get hacked, you can say, "I told you so."
if the hit was dramatic but in my case it is only about 200 points difference which translates to very minor drop in performance with it enabled. better safe that sorry. my CPU is i7-3770
