I am using this config PC from 5 years. Asus B350 Mb, Ryzen 2400g cpu, 24 Gb Ram. I use it for more for surfing web, play old school games and watch movies. Strictly there is no need to upgrade this system but I was thinking about a new box with same RAM and PSU but a new Gigabyte Auros 450 M mobo, Ryzen 5600g cpu and a RGB case. I am seeing on web that 5600g is 40% more powerful than 2400g system. This new config is about 330$ cost. is upgrade worth ?
To begin with - what do you really have? In the title you say that it is 2600g, in the text you say that it is 2400g instead. But in the end of the end, it doesn't matter, You won't notice any difference if uses as your told above. Just You will have a little work and lose that $330 (it's minimum, in real life goes more).
Yes thats a typo, there is not a 2600g , it is 2400g only. And also it doesn't make difference for what i do but to feel a new look and better speed i am thinking about this upgrade.
" ... feel a new look and better speed ..." No increase in speed unless you upgrade the CMOS battery to a (2) battery system. The "B" model Motherboards all have a nice Dual Battery Holder Bracket available from numerous 3rd Party Vendors. It places the batteries in Series-Parallel with the voltage of the Ram Modules. Having a newer Power Supply with adequate Over-Voltage and Reverse- Polarity Protection can help to insure that the dual CR2032 Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries don't have their polarity reversed, which may not be correctable depending on whether or not the new Motherboard has the better long lasting Japanese Industrial Carbon and Silicon-Based Capacitors. Have fun with the upgrade. PS - please let us know how it went UPDATE I almost forgot, since you'll be running both CR2032 batteries in Series-Parallel, the new after-market battery holders can even accept the 6v lantern batteries (cheaper than 2 CR2032 batteries) which will increase the initial speed of the ram modules. You can access the BIOS and adjust the timings of the modules. (not hard, just set them high enough to take advantage of the extra voltage provided by the 6v battery) At that point you can then drop the voltage on the Ram making it more stable, even if you don't overclock.
What "Asus B350" motherboard do you have? Bios updates may allow your current board to run the 5600g.. (depends though.. ymmv)
yes my board support 5600g, but i wanted to change my mobo. didn't buy yet. still thinking why i need upgrade now lol. i wait till 7000 series cpus come down on prices. may be next year end.
That would be best... wait for early adopter price gouging to subside and price drops.. then do a completely new build
My interest lost totally either in 5600g or new release 7600. I will allow my 2400g run until it die.
Finally bought Ryzen 5600g cpu with Gigabyte B450 Aorus M mobo for 23,000 INR ( 270 $ ) Previous mobo Asus B350 lost metal panel supporting the IO ports 2 years back. From then I was using it so delicately. But lately sound ports were stopped working randomly. So I thought to change mobo only at first but later decided to get new CPU too. 5600g graphics are better than 2400g. For normal use, 5600g is a bit faster than 2400g but not as much as 3 times faster like somebody told before. Overall this is good purchase. I kept old DDR 4 ram on new mobo. Saved money.
