I've been using AveYo's ToggleDefender script on all my friends' computers for a while now as it's the best script that I've found to fully disable Windows Defender and not have its Tamper Protection re-enable it. With that said, I recently recommended this script to someone on Reddit and their moderator removed my post saying this is Malware. I then explained that it isn't and copy/pasted the .bat file text into PasteBin but then he pointed out that even PasteBin removed the link as its malicious. His response to me was: That me wonder so I uploaded the script to VirusTotal and it was safe by most security solutions except GDATA, ESET, and off-course Microsoft: thoughts?
Since you are a member here for a long time And you know aveyo, how you possibly could say such s**t .. What happened to people this days ?
I am not saying some ****. If I didn't trust him, I wouldn't be using it for years on all my computers and friends'. I just wanted an opinion from people who know about scripting as to why that mod on Reddit said: "It's doing super-obfuscated garbage. Trustworthy scripts don't do that."
aveyo has been a member here since anno domini 2009....i really wonder why you don`t ask the man himself.
I PMed him a long time ago asking if he is planning to release an updated version of the script if needed with the future changes of Windows 11 builds but he didn't reply so I didn't bother messaging him about this. Also, why are you guys being so sensitive? I love the script and his work, all I did was ask a simple question to clarify the false claim of that mod on Reddit because his statement along with the recent flagging of ESET NOD32 Antivirus of the script had me wondering as ESET is known to be the least AV with false positives for years.
thoughts virus total is not indicator, what good or not ? cmdow its good tool, but virus total .. will say ... that the reason i don't use a\v since it is not a good solution if you don't know how to be careful while surfing the online web, even the best a\v will not help you. and i can carfuly say that 90% of people are in the same situation.
Well it's being flagged as a script that's disabling Defender. All true. That's why sometimes you need to protect your tools, ie. archive with a password so some av don't delete them...
same here I don't AV since 1990 and never had issues; this is simple user only need always uses you brain...
