Just curious, I've installed the 8102 developer preview on several machines and yet to find one on which the built in sound hardware is functional. Realtek AC97 definitely doesn't: latest (vista/win7) driver tries to install but fails.
weird, Works on my HP DV 8000 laptop with AC97. I just use the windows provided drivers. The desktop is HD audio. I just install the latest dirvers
Most of the time, I use Intel drivers or my manufacturer's drivers, M$ doesn't provide any good drivers for me.
I had a sound problem, but but installing/running the driver under compatibility mode sorted the issue.
no problem here on my macbook pro. audio drivers were installed along with windows (built-in drivers)... later updated using bootcamp drivers. i have cirrus logic sound card on my laptop. i also use tapco external audio interface using the vista/windows 7 drivers released for the interface. works very well, infact better than on windows 7 where i used to have constant interruptions while playing music (kind of like jitter)
On my Toshiba laptop, I thought I had no issues with the sound but when I went to use Google+ video chat, the other person could not hear me. After installing the RealTek Audio drivers and program, it all worked great.
no problems anywhere here, working fine with SPDIF out (optical) too on motherboard with drivers provided during installation.....
No problems.... I'm using onboard sound from Realtek (sticking with default drivers) and a Creative Card (Drivers came via Windows update). Both devices work perfect. 5.1 Audio via optical spdif is like in W7.
Guess I'm just lucky. I'm going to load Win7 on that machine and pass it off to an unlucky family member, will find something else to test Win8 on.
