So my trusty Q6600 seems to not able to handle Win 10 as well as 7. Random CPU spikes, high ram usage and many hicups even on LTSB/LTSC editions What Ive eventually did is to get a cheapo Ryzen 3 system and leave this one to my parrents with Win 7 ultimate & Bypass ESU. But what about the future ? Im thinking. Linux is great but my modem acts a bit weird with them also Id like to keep playing games without the hassle of wine. It performs at stock speeds with 4gb DDR2 500Mhz RAM.
Instal Windows 10 LTSB Or Windows 10 LTSC Edit: Forgot To Mention That: You Should Remove Telemetry And Disable Some Uneeded Service So that Your Problem Hardisk Usage 100% Is Gone I use This Trick In VM And This Are Working bro Best Regards NST_Adventure
i think my answer would be no way as it needs heavy modififications which will break many win10 components if anybody wants win10 to behave like win7 as a real host os. Fast Edit : Agreed with @shhnedo .
i never heard of anyone who ran w 7 on a w 10 vm, because m$ does not support running w 7 on his ryzen pc directly...but you can try.. it must be the ultimate upgrade for w 10.
Let's see....make Windows 10 perform like 7. First take out all but about 2 GB of RAM, and downgrade the CPU. Install OS onto a 20 year old HDD. Put in a 150 w PSU. There ya go!
There is no way to get 10 to perform as bad as 7 now does, it can't even properly service itself anymore.
My Q6600 handles W10 Pro without any problem with 8g RAM. Make sure your problem is not related to other hardware, specially motherboard and BIOS version.
8g RAM I only have 2 sticks of 2gb 500Mhz DDR2 RAM that seems to be the problem And as I said I cant overclock
To be very clear : Win 10 is being preferred over Win 7 now but not LTSC. Mind it! Check whether you can upgrade to 8gb Ram and / or SSD ? 4gb ram is still good to run Win 10. Win 10 will never run as fast as win 7, like win 7 can never run as fast as XP. Its all about resource management & compromise. Win 8.1 is still good option for the next 4-5 years & I fear your machine will die before that! Thanks. ...
Can you explain more ? The're probably better because of the forced update nightmare My 60GB eemc laptop is thankfull for that lol Seems unlickely that 7 will loose support as fast as XP did. Thats a shame really windows 10 design seems so ugly and unorganised compared to 7
Yeah a had a spare ssd from my new build since I've upgraded my main PC to a Intel 660p NVMe Unfortuanally I cant upgrade to 8GB since I only have two ram slots and you cant find more than 2gb DDR2 sticks anymore I hate Win 8.1 with passion I'll prefer runing 7 with disbale ESU checks patch (I also really miss the Aero Interface) I think this PC will last for quite some time more since I rarely use it now If it will I'll probablly get a refurbished i3 PC as I only use it for my university when I'm in my parrents home (When my laptop is so weak for some programms)
I wonder how many of those who were in love with 2016 LTSB when it was released, now are on 2019 LTSC and will upgrade to the next one (same support time as normal edu/ent) My 32GB Transformer book (emmc = sd card = very low speed, compared to ssd), it had 8.1 pre-installed and runs 1909 atm, the feature updates can be done with the 7-8GB of free disk space it needs to be done.. 8GB ram with a crappy cpu won't make the system faster anyway. 7 already lost support, by MSFT and hardware manufacturers.
Its just to make sure that you are aware of these things. If you are, its fine! 1. Before using that SSD on this 4gb ram pc, make sure that is compatible with it. You may lose SSD. 2. Simplix has made it very easy to patch win 7. 3. You can get full control over Win 10 updates using Windows Update Manager 4. There are invaluable tips @Enthousiast 's Post! Thanks. ...
