Is Windows 10 being preloaded right now on PCs if we are in the Upgrade Free program?

sounds a little bit like putt'n (not Putin ) the red stockings into the chimney and next day is X-mas -- lol

 

It could take months to roll it out to everyone so I doubt they think a two day head start will help much.

but how can we find the installation files and where in the hard disk ?

I already have windows 10 but waiting for explorations from others who have win7/8.1

 

If you are getting it there will be a folder in the root of your C drive.

 

In a Windows 10 FAQ page, Microsoft states:
When you reserve, you can confirm your device is compatible with Windows 10. Between reservation and when your upgrade is ready, the files you need for the upgrade will be downloaded to your PC to make the final installation go more quickly. Then, when your upgrade is ready after July 29, 2015, you get a notification that lets you get started with your upgrade.

They will be in a folder named $windows.~BT in the root of C:. One person was getting it pushed to him earlier so there might be more.

 

It's rolling out right now to peoples computers. My Windows 7 laptop also now has $windows.~BT in the root of its C: and the windows 10 10240 files are inside, although they're not all there (perhaps being downloaded as we speak)

 

I expect them to first push an ESD and only after the ESD is downloaded will the $windows.~BT structure created. Previously I would have expected the ESD to be delivered before GA with only the decryption key and zero-day patches delivered at GA but TreeSize isn't showing anything on any of my PCs with reservations.

My computer also contains a $Windows.~BT folder but its only 140MB at the moment
