If I buy a brand new pre-installed Windows 10 laptop (they're just coming onto the market) will the activation be tied to the embedded BIOS key - the same as in Windows 8?

So.... here's an idea... if I set the laptop up exactly as I want it, then if I want to "clone" it (with Acronis True Image or similar) to another Windows 10 pre-installed laptop - then all I will need to do on the cloned laptop is to extract the Windows 10 BIOS key and enter it into the activation dialog?

Surely if the cloned laptop originally had the same version of Windows 10 as the original laptop this would work - wouldn't it??

Because this worked for me on Windows 8.

Doubt that will work unless your restoring to an identical machine with same hardware.

It won't work because the hardware hash/mac address are different...
