So, our little ISON comet is diving into the Sun and if it survive the slingshot around it (well, the tidal forces will be enormous and if it survive, then we know that this one is from pretty solid material, not some loose group of rocks and ice or similar weak things), then we shall see a beautifull show, when it will depart to outher space from the Sun Today the ISON enter the SOHO satelite, monitoring Sun (yes, this behing the clone on the arm from top-right to center), view ange: SOHO 1418 ISON diving in2 I quess I did not need to tell, witch one is the ISON, do I...? And it approaching the Sun with amazing speed. Actuall images you can find there: http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime/c3/512/ Beautifull animation from the SOHO frames bring us the Suspicious0bservers on YouTube today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMGUbuZjyt8 ...and even back in 20.11. we seen ISON as little speck (compared to the Earth and Mercury) on images from the Stereo satelite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HN8RxE0WHQA So, I hope you are excited as I'm to look at the show, that is unfolding right now as we speak
I did not counting on clean skies... but satelites seems to work well: previous gifs: http://s7.uploads.ru/r3GqF.gif http://s30.postimg.org/egarkebe9/SOHO_ISON_dive_in.gif (soon we did not see her ) Lots of nice ISON photos on Bruce Gary site: http://brucegary.net/ISON/ Such as: ISON Nov16 Waldemar Skorupa
Saw it earlier on this evening taking dogs for a walk, but was too difficult to get a steady photo with no stand
Still congratulations - nice shot! Now it is too close to the Sun, that we can't see it. Poor comet. Let's hope she stays intact and survive the slingshot Updated the GIF image to the latest I managed to get from the overhelmed SOHO website. Now it will be interesting to wait for the todays perihelium (18:44 UT(GMT) ) 700 000 km/h speed She is really speeding up And she is a looker: ISON Nov15 Damien Peach.
It was the brightest thing I've seen in the sky before, it looked like 20 stars brightness I tried a long time exposure shot but didn't work from shaky hands, and tried a zoomed in shop but just looks like a blurry light
Heheh, small speck of dust and how bright it can become, when approaching the Sun, right? We have too cloudy in Europe right now, so no chance for sightings And besided, right now she is too close to the Sun, that we cannot see it anymore at all Let's hope she survive the slighshot around the Sun. (Remember the Shoemaker-Levy comer that Jupiter torn in 17 or 19 pieces... ) Then it could become quite close in Decemper 27 and definitively she will be a star to see Not to worry about the average quality of the photo - you cannot focus on it any you cannot hold the camera steady enough in hands. Maybe if you next time use some fence to support your camera, then you get better results? But after all, I seen UFO photos that are far more blurry So picturing something in the sky is not that easy at all...
Looks like that just like the comet Lovejoy in 2011: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh3Wju3qabE ...the comet ISON make it and it is moving far from the Sun and starting to brighten up back again, just like Lovejoy: Lasco C2 ISON ISON made it thru Stereo ISON shoot http://stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov/browse/2013/11/28/ahead/cor2_rdiff/512/ Kolem Slunce si to hnala rychlostí přes 1 milion 300 000 km/h....! http://s21.postimg.org/tjszscbxz/still_counting_for_ISON.png http://www.cometison2013.co.uk/perihelion-and-distance/ ...and soon there will be much better quality images that these almost realtime previews. It will look like this: SOHO ISON C2 last moment Much better, huh?
Looks like the the so called comet of the century has failed http://news.sky.com/story/1174976/comet-ison-fails-to-survive-solar-slingshot
I won't be so quick to judge. Once again - look at the damn Lovejoy comet video, for argument sake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh3Wju3qabE When it was near the Sun, it dimm completely and only at diistance it begin shinning again! Compered to that, ISON is much more visible already that Lovejoy was, so all the hype about ISOn brakup or such BS is completely unfounded ATM. ISON is back up in full swing Remember Lovejoy? Check this out: Check the video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh3Wju3qabE She also dimmed out pretty much near the Sun and brighten up only when it was at some distance from it. Therefore the same is happening to ISON In fact, ISON is buch brighter already...! She made it, guys.
had high hopes all along for this comet!! I'm so glad it has survived perihelion!! Just lets wait for the show
I'm affraid that there will be no show The comet faded way too much, sadly. I hate to say that this is the end, but it probably it. We see what turn out to be left of it later
